The Crazy Story About The Day We Got Married…
If you’re paying attention, you’ll notice your Thriveletter is coming at you a day late. OOPS! That’s because yesterday was our 21st anniversary… and I totally FORGOT to type up this fun and silly joy note for ya’ll. SO SORRY! Okay, maybe not *that* sorry because I had a nice lunch date with the hubs and sort of chill afternoon. We were both trying to work, but also both totally UNmotivated. To make it up to y’all, I thought I’d include a few of our goofball couple photos.
This first photo is the last time we took a serious photo together. 21 years ago.
Usually we’re more like this. He’s always sticking his tongue out in photos. It used to drive me crazy. I finally gave up and joined him:
Aw… our babies were still smaller than us:
Why I ever thought that hat was cute, IDK…
I know I said his tongue is always out, but these prove me wrong:
Anyway, as of yesterday we’ve been married for 21 years. Since “the turn of the century”. That cracks me up!
We got married on Earth Day. We lived in Oklahoma at the time, so it was also LAND RUN DAY, which is a big deal. And it was his Grammy’s birthday. And the birthday of another friend of ours.
It was also EASTER WEEKEND.
Yes. That BOGGLES MY MIND now to think about. What kind of craziness is THAT? At the time, I had walked away from my faith and wasn’t going to church. Didn’t really have ANY faith at all, come to think of it.
And yet… it was a non-negotiable for me about getting married in a church. So we did. And the fact that we found a church that was willing to marry us in between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is, well, surely that is STRAIGHT UP an indication of God being a part of our marriage, right? Has to be. Because I worked in a church for five years, and Easter Weekend is cray. I can’t believe they even considered our date.
But wait…
I mean, do the math. That means our rehearsal was on GOOD FRIDAY? What on earth.
All that to say… I’m grateful to God for making sure HE was part of our story, even when I didn’t believe HE was there. Isn’t He so KIND like that?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.-Ecclesiastes 4:12
Thanks be to GOD!
This Zuppa Tuscana Looks DELISH!
My friend, Ashlee Stohler just posted this recipe, and it looks amaze-balls. I am definitely trying it soon!
Now if I can just figure out how to talk my pick eaters into trying it! LOL. So many delicious recipes, so few adventurous taste-testers!
Just for the JOY of it
This post from Joy the Baker…. Which cracked me up.
First, the writing:
But here we are in the year of our Lord 2021 having just barely limped through a global panini and well… New Orleans isn’t exactly the same city it was before the panorama.
And 2nd…
the JOY I’m finding these days in “fake-planning” a trip…
Y’all I want to GO SOMEWHERE FUN! Hubs and I have been talking for years about going to Vegas and getting remarried by Elvis.
If you could plan a JUST FOR THE JOY OF IT trip, where would you go? Leave your answer in the comments. I need some dream travel inspiration! xo
Until Next Time…
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you
Wherever He may send you
And may He guide you through the wilderness
And protect you through the storm
May He bring you home
Rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you
May He bring you back again
Rejoicing, into this space
In the name of the Father and the Son
And the Holy Spirit…
Go in peace.
